FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Everything people ask us before getting started.
What is Lucarneo?
Lucarneo turns a tablet into an always-on living-room frame in the home of a loved one, often an elderly one. The family sends photos, little notes, voice messages and short videos straight from their phones: everything appears on the big screen automatically, with nothing for the recipient to do.
Does my loved one need to know how to use a tablet?
No. That’s the whole point: there’s nothing for them to do. No account, no buttons, no passwords. The screen stays on the memories, day and night, and new content appears all on its own. Lucarneo is designed for isolated older people, including those who aren’t comfortable with technology.
Is it a good gift idea for grandparents?
Yes. Lucarneo is designed as a gift from the whole family to a parent or grandparent: you give them the daily presence of their loved ones, without asking them to learn a thing. Setup takes just a few minutes, and everyone can then contribute.
How does it work for a loved one in a care home or nursing home?
All it takes is a tablet set up in their room and an internet connection. The family sends whatever they like from a distance; the screen shows the memories continuously, without disturbing the staff or asking anything of the resident.
How much does it cost, and who pays?
The subscription is funded by a shared household pot: everyone (children, grandchildren) chips in freely, and the recipient never pays. With several contributors, the cost per person becomes tiny. A no-commitment trial is included.
How is it different from an ordinary connected photo frame?
A generic photo frame is often limited to images and needs setting up. Lucarneo adds notes, voice messages, short videos and articles, all designed for later life and funded together — to nurture a real connection, not just to display photos.
Are my data and our photos protected?
Yes. Lucarneo has no advertising, no ad tracking and never sells any data. The service is designed and hosted in France. No medical features: it’s only about staying connected.
Which devices and languages does Lucarneo work with?
The sending app is available on iPhone (and soon Android); the screen runs on a tablet. Everything is available in French, English, Spanish, German and Italian.
